Dedicated to Quality
General Policies
At Western Taxidermy, we pride ourselves in keeping every aspect of our business above board both from a customer service and a legal perspective.

ALL WORK TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY DEPOSIT. We take a 50% deposit up front on most of our projects. The balance of the cost of the project is due on pickup including the total GST associated with the project. In certain instances where special permits exist that do not allow transfer of a specimen to another individual, we may request full payment up front. All deposits are non-refundable.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY SPECIMEN THAT WE KNOW HAS BE UNLAWFULLY PROCURED. In other words, if at any point a potential client divulges unlawful circumstances for how they acquired an animal, it will not be welcome on our premises as we will not be complicit with actions that contravene the Wildlife Act of BC or any other laws relating to wildlife possession or trafficking. This includes but is not limited to: any form of poaching, harvesting outside of a designated season, not being in possession of appropriate tags or licenses at harvest, illegally killing species and passing it off as found dead etc.

ALL SPECIMENS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY PROOF OF LAWFUL POSESSION. Your specimen needs some sort of paperwork that gives you "right of property" to it. That means a cut tag, hunting license, trapping license, migratory bird permit or provincial possession permit depending on the species and how it was collected.

OLD MOUNTS THAT CLIENTS WANT REPAIRED NEED TRACEABILITY. If you have an older mount that you want cleaned up or repaired, regardless of age, it must be accompanied by some form of paperwork. If you do not have the original tag or license information, we can help you get a permit from Front Counter BC. Until such a permit is in place or under way, we cannot be in possession of any undocumented wildlife or wildlife parts. We can help procure the permits to "re-certify" your mount.
WE WILL NOT MOUNT, SKIN, TAN OR WORK ON PETS OF ANY KIND. Regardless of the type of animal your pet is, we will not perform any taxidermy services to it. Although we know the passing of a pet is difficult and taxidermy may seem like a good way to keep your cherished animal around, we are strictly a wildlife art studio and will not entertain such requests.

WE WILL NOT PERFORM SERVICES ON ANY HUMAN PARTS OR PEOPLE. As stated above we are a wildlife studio and will not involve ourselves in the procurement or preservation of any human body parts.
